Hi there,

It seems that most of us have more than one vehicle.

I personally have (right now) a 1992 Jeep Cherokee Laredo with a 4.0 liter 6 cylinder engine & automatic transmission. It has about 120,000 miles on it and I have done my share of maintenance to keep it running.

It recently had some problems with either a head gasket, or the head was cracked, or one was a result of the other.

Anyway, it overheated and blew a heater hose off while my wife was driving it. A dealer (where it was towed) wanted to "replace the engine" at a cost of over $5,000 (US). I said "No way!" and ended up taking it to my trusted mechanic who was able to get it running again for about $1500. I have a few pictures if anyone is interested (just ask).

I have also had to replace the Crankshaft Position Sensor (CPS) when it would stall while driving, or would not start at all.

The Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) had to be replaced just a few weeks ago. The symptom there was that the transmission did not shift at the right time (slow shift between second and third gears).

So if you have questions about any vehicle, feel free to ask. I may not have the answer, but maybe someone else will. And I can always refer you to other sites where they may be able to help.

Take Care,
