Auxiliary Coolant Pump - Chevy Venture

There was a post in the automotive forums recently asking about part of the engine coolant system (Auxiliary Coolant Pump).
Here is some information I gathered on the subject.

Supplement to TSB 00-01-38-011B, Titled "Poor Heat When Vehicle at Low RPM" (Mar 9, 2004)

When servicing the vehicle, the diagnosis procedure might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms.

Condition:
Some customers may comment about poor heat in the vehicle passenger compartment at low engine RPM.
This condition is most prevalent at outside temperatures below 0° C (32° F).

Recommendation:
Install auxiliary coolant pump. (Note: 2000 model year was equipped with this pump already installed).
Please refer to bulletin 00-01-38-011B for complete instructions.

Additional part information:
The entire kit for this procedure is over $400 p/n 10446377. Individual parts can be purchased separately at less cost:
10449179 - pump
90335971 - bracket
10407728 - sensor
15364721 - harness

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step.
If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
If these steps do not resolve the condition, you may need to contact GM for further diagnostic assistance.
This diagnostic approach was developed for vehicles with specific VINs (Vehicle Identification Numbers) and should not automatically be used for other vehicles with similar symptoms.
