You can get fast & easy auto insurance quotes online.
Have you ever asked yourself if you are paying too much for your car
insurance? I know I did, until I did a little comparison online.
You see, I have been a pretty good driver for some time and never made a
claim. Then one day, I got a notice from my (then) current insurance
company that my rates would be going up. I called and asked them why
and they said "Normal increases happen all the time." Well that was
enough for me to start shopping for myself.
Of course the best place I found to compare auto insurance was online.
I typed "auto insurance" into a couple of search tools and I was looking at
rates in only a few minutes. One word of warning - there are literally
hundreds of sites out there, so it is easy to become overwhelmed with all
that information. When I would find a site to get a quote, if it took
longer than about 3-4 minutes to get it, I was on to the next site.
I also like to stay with the major names - companies I recognize like
Progressive, State Farm, & Allstate. I even tried Geico. But sometimes
I got much better rates from smaller companies. You will have to use
your own judgment to make the final decision as to which company you select.
Here are some tips to consider when shopping for auto insurance:
- Check rates every 1-2 years. If you are a good driver, your rates
should go down over time.
- Call your current agent and let them know your a "looking around" - they
may match other quotes or give you a better deal.
- When comparing, make sure everything is entered the same way (deductible,
coverage, etc.).
- Talk with friends & family to see what company & rate they get.
- Ask you homeowner's insurance agent if they have discount rates if you
combine homeowner and auto insurance.
One other note: Most companies base your rate partly on how many miles you
drive. If you drive less than about 10 to 15 thousand miles each year
(considered average), you may get a discount - but you have to ask & often
prove it
